More Than Just a Martial Art: Experience the Life-Changing Power of Jiu Jitsu!
At Gym Jitsu Allen, our Youth MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) program is designed for kids and teens (ages 10–17) who want to train in a structured, safe, and motivating environment. Unlike gyms that rush children into “full MMA,” our philosophy is simple: build strong fundamentals first.
Students start by learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and striking (Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai) as individual disciplines. Once they’ve developed confidence and control in these core areas, we carefully guide them into age-appropriate MMA integration.
The result? Kids who are skilled, disciplined, and confident—on and off the mats.
We believe MMA should never be about throwing kids into a cage fight. Instead, it should:
Build Strong Fundamentals
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: Teaches control, leverage, and submissions safely.
Striking: Boxing, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai build coordination, balance, and timing.
Progress into MMA Integration
Once kids are comfortable in both areas, they begin learning how to combine striking and grappling in a supervised, controlled setting.
Keep It Safe and Fun
All training is age-appropriate, closely supervised, and focused on learning—not aggression.
This ensures every child progresses at their own pace while building confidence and character.
Our program covers the essential building blocks of MMA in a kid-friendly format:
Proper stance, footwork, and movement.
Punches, kicks, and combinations adapted for MMA.
Defensive skills: blocks, parries, bob-and-weave.
Transitioning from striking into grappling safely.
BJJ fundamentals: positions, escapes, sweeps, and submissions.
Wrestling basics: takedowns, sprawls, and control.
Learning to stay safe on the ground and escape bad positions.
Blending striking and grappling in controlled drills.
Wall work (age-appropriate).
Strategy and awareness in live training.
Supervised sparring that emphasizes learning, not winning.

Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned grappler, the coaches do an excellent job of meeting you where you’re at and helping you improve. The coaching staff is knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely invested in each student’s progress. The gym is clean, well-maintained and has all essential equipment. Mats are sanitized regularly and hygiene rules are taken seriously. One of the biggest strengths of Gym Jitsu is the community. Everyone here trains hard but also supports one another. There’s no ego, just group of people trying to get better and help each other along the way.Posted on Enejan KuliyevaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am fairly new to jiu jitsu and I feel like there is great level of training from the professors. Everyone is super inviting and friendly, and I'm glad to be a part of the community here.Posted on David SmithTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This is my son’s first time doing Jui-Jitsu and I have to say that I’m truly impress with the dedication of the instructors. My son had a rough start with not wanting to do any sports but he’s been slowly coming around. The instructors really value the well being of the kids and take their time in explaining the moves. They don’t rush kids if they’re not in the mood which has helped my son. What I like most about the gym is that they offer several other classes (boxing, kickboxing, etc…) for both youths and adults. I would definitely recommend Gym Jitsu to anyone who is wanting to try Jui-Jitsu.Posted on Maribel ParaguyaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great customer service, quality instructors and plenty of space for sparring. They are amazing with the kids and it’s just the place if you want your kids to be introduced to Jiu Jitsu.Posted on Damion SelmonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Only been a couple weeks, but I’m very happy with this place in every way. Instructors, admin, facilities, and location to my home couldn’t be better. We all have choices on where to train or who we want to train our kids and I’m sure I would choose Gym Jitsu again and again. Check out their site and the bios of the people involved if you haven’t done so already. These guys are champion thoroughbreds and excellent with kids!Posted on Beau M. Everyone has been so patient with him and he’s learned so much in his short time taking classes. Can’t recommend GYMJITSU enough!Posted on Lexi BTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As a beginner in striking and Jiu Jitsu, this place is great. Coaches are willing to teach you from the ground up and are very sociable. Can not get enough!Posted on Lo BoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommend!! We tried another gym trial class first, then checked out Gym Jitsu to compare and I was very impressed with the skills the instructors were teaching my son compared to the other gym. As a mom, new to BJJ, I have a lot to learn about the sport - but I can already tell based on the instructors’ extensive experience and one on one training methods that my 6yo son will be in good hands and learn a ton without some of the fluff you see in the other gyms’ younger aged classes. Very excited to see how he progresses under this amazing gym’s leadership!Posted on Cassie Farley
Is MMA safe for kids?
Yes. Our approach emphasizes safety, supervision, and age-appropriate drills. We don’t allow kids to spar until they’ve developed fundamentals.
Will my child have to compete?
No. Competition is optional. Some kids love testing themselves in youth tournaments, while others train for confidence, fitness, and self-defense.
Does my child need experience?
Not at all! Beginners are welcome. Our curriculum is designed to take kids from their first day on the mat all the way to advanced MMA skills.
What equipment does my child need?
For striking: gloves, shin guards, and wraps. For BJJ: Gi and belt. Starter gear packages are available at our academy.
Give your child the opportunity to develop confidence, discipline, and real martial arts skills in a safe, structured environment. At Gym Jitsu Allen, our Youth MMA program empowers kids to grow stronger inside and out.
